AEP, which has about 80 generating stations and a generating capacity of nearly 38GW, supplies electricity to more than five million customers in 11 states.
The company said that by adding InStep’s PRiSM self-learning analytic software will improve the monitoring of the real-time health and performance of its critical plant equipment assets.
InStep Software president John Kalanik said, "PRiSM will give them a holistic, real-time software solution to continuously monitor the healthand performance of their critical plant equipment."
PRiSM uses predictive algorithms to identify subtle changes in system behavior that are often the early warning signs of equipment performance and health problems.
The early identification of equipment problems will reduce maintenance costs and increase availability, reliability, production quality and capacity.
