This agreement is preceded by the signing of a memorandum on mutual cooperation on June 3 in Almaty (Kazakhstan). This agreement will leverage financial support from the French government.
As per the terms of the agreement, Alstom and Transmashholding will develop the technologies for the electric locomotives to be manufactured by the joint venture company.
The production of the locomotives, which will also include components from the French-Russian consortium and Alstom’s Belfort factory (France), will gradually be delocalised to Kazakhstan.
Under the terms of this agreement, the locomotives manufactured by the joint venture, could be exported to other countries only after fulfilling the requirements of Kazakh Railways, as the first priority.
