Under the five-year deal, Alstom will provide engineering, project management services, while Enterprise will offer engineering, civil works, installation and commissioning services on Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission’s network between Perth and Peterhead.

The agreement also has an option for additional four years, in yearly tranches of work.

The initial work under the deal is expected to be at Rothienorman, Kintore, Alyth, and Peterhead with a variety of new substations are planned to be built.

Alstom Grid commercial vice president Kevin Marriott said the contract expands the company’s Stafford-based Grid businesses.

"Coming on the back of other recent contracts – such as for Champa in India and for the DolWin3 offshore wind farm off Germany, this helps demonstrate just how effective our Stafford business is," Marriott added.

Alstom said Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission is responsible for 5,300km of high voltage overhead lines and underground cables serving about 70% of Scotland.
