The power project will have a generating capacity of 450MW and is expected to be commissioned in 2015.

Alstom will be responsible for the delivery of complete electromechanical package for the project, which includes a powerhouse with two vertical Francis turbines of 225MW each, generators and electrical and mechanical auxiliary systems.

The company will also supply power transformers and switchyard equipment, hydromechanical equipment, digital control system, telecom and plant protection, as well as a small hydro power plant.

According to Alstom, hydropower accounts for 27% of power production in Peru, which is now diversifying its power generation mix to include more renewable power.
