Alstom Power has secured a contract worth approximately EUR40m ($58.31m) from Spain-based ACS Group to provide equipment and services for the El Sauz combined-cycle gas-fired power plant in Queretaro, Mexico.

The power plant, which commenced operation in 1981, consists of three gas turbines and an 80MW steam turbine.

Alstom will provide a new GT24 gas turbine to replace the existing gas turbines and will retrofit the steam turbine.

Under a separate seven-year agreement, the company will also provide services for the gas turbine and generator.

Alstom said that the project will add at least 25 years to the facility’s lifetime and boost its efficiency by 20%.

Comision Federal de Electricidad, a Mexican state-owned utility, owns and operates the El Sauz power plant.
