Alstom originally supplied its GT13E1 gas turbines to the plant, which is located in Jhanor in Bharuch district.
As part of the contract, Alstom will supply gas turbine components to the plant and provide services which include installation, testing, commissioning & conducting guarantee test of the gas turbines after replacement of the components.
The project is scheduled to be commissioned over a period of three years from the date of contract signing.
Alstom India Thermal and Renewable Power vice president Francois Carpentier said the contract is a testimony of Alstom’s advanced technological capabilities and expertise in gas turbines services in India.
"Alstom has strong references in this segment and is fully geared up to successfully execute this important order," Carpentier added.
The gas turbines, which have been in operation for over 15 years at the plant, will operate for another 15 years with the same output following Alstom’s replacement of the plant’s existing parts.
