French engineering company Alstom has signed a cooperation agreement with China’s Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC) to supply turbine and generator packages for future Chinese AP1000 projects.
Steam turbines supplied under the agreement will be based on Alstom’s Arabelle technology. The first contract under the agreement is expected to be signed in the near future, according to Alstom.
"This cooperation agreement is a reflection of the new heights reached by Alstom’s partnership with DEC in the Chinese nuclear market, said Patrick Kron, Alstom’s chairman and chief executive. "It also demonstrates the continued trust and confidence in Alstom’s nuclear products and technologies from both DEC and the Chinese industry."
Alstom has been involved in the Chinese nuclear power market for two decades, supplying "over half" of all the turbine and generator packages in the country, in close cooperation with DEC. Projects have included both phases of Ling Ao, Taishan as well as Hongyanhe.
