The company placed a bid for the block on 30 March 2012, as part of the Sierra Leone 3RD Bid Round for offshore exploration permits.

The award is subject to further negotiations, the company said.

The company also holds a 100% interest in block SL-03 offshore Sierra Leone, where a 2,500sq km 3D seismic acquisition has been completed.

Future drilling at the block will commence, following evaluation of the seismic data.

The company, in addition also received two exploration blocks in Cote d’Ivoire: CI-509 and CI-513, which cover an area of 2,531sq km and where a 3D seismic program is currently under way.

Rufisque Offshore Profond and Senegal Offshore Sud Profond -two licence blocks covering 18,277sqkm located in Senegal were also awarded to African Petroleum, in which it holds 90% interest with its partner Petrosen holding 10%.

The company completed a 3,600sq km, 3D seismic acquisition Senegal Offshore Sud Profond.

A 3D seismic data covering a 5,100sq km has been completed in blocks LB-08 and LB-09 offshore Liberia, where the company has 100% interest.

African Petroleum also owns a 60% operating interest in blocks A1 and A4 offshore Gambia with its partner Buried Hill Gambia, where it has completed 2,500sqkm of 3D seismic.
