The Alternative Energy Technology Center, a biofuel developer, is negotiating a contract for the first commercial production of cellulosic biocrude in the US.

The biocrude will reportedly be manufactured from true cellulosic biomass such as sawdust and switchgrass. The Alternative Energy Technology Center (AETE) claims that biocrude is a cellulosic biofuel that can be burned in certain large commercial engines.

Brown Marks, CEO of AETE, said: We expect our biocrude product to demonstrate both the validity of our technology and the efficiency of cellulosic biofuels as part of America’s energy future. Building on the technology we acquired through Meridian Biorefining, we are developing America’s first truly integrated biorefining capability.
