Under the contract, the company will design and construct fuel handling and storage systems for the GS conversion project to manage the biomass fuel.

Aecon chief operating officer Teri McKibbon said, "Aecon is pleased to be an integral part of another OPG clean energy project."

The Atikokan GS project will also include modifications to the plant and the converted facility will provide clean energy produced from a sustainable fuel which is considered to be beneficial to the climate change mitigation.

The construction on the facility is underway and is expected to be finished in 2014.

Canadian company Aecon Group is diverse construction and infrastructure development; OPG is a public company wholly owned by the Ontario government.
