Aecom and Organica Ecotechnologies, a developer of an ecological wastewater treatment technology, have entered into a partnership. The partnership will focus on three geographic areas: North America, UK, and Southeast Asia and is aimed towards introducing this new treatment technology in these regions.

Organica Ecotechnologies said that it integrates reactor-based adaptive ecosystems and traditional engineering solutions to create efficient wastewater treatment systems in a botanical garden look and feel, enclosed in a greenhouse.

The company claims that the technology opens new opportunities in urban design and architectural solutions. Engineered, complex ecosystems can be easily integrated into the urban landscape while offering a treatment in line with sustainable design principles.

Steven Guttenplan, PE, chief technology officer with water business line of Aecom, said: “Aecom is pleased to partner with Organica and provide our clients with an opportunity to consider this innovative, effective, and sustainable approach to wastewater treatment.”
