The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a technical assistance grant of US$998,000 for project preparation of the Se-San 3 hydro power project in Vietnam.

ADB sources in Manila claim that the objectives of the grant are to assist the government in the development of Se-San 3 and to make it a model hydro power project, managed commercially and adopting internationally recommended operational, financial, environmental and social practices.

The Se-San 3 hydro power project will involve the construction of a 260MW hydro power station on the

Se-San river. The project should be fully commissioned by the end of 2000. Phase I and phase II of the ADB-funded study will require international consultants.
