Plans for a 1 GW gas-fired gogeneration plant to be located in the northeast of England have been submitted to the government for approval.
If approved the proposals, by Teesside-based Thor Cogeneration, could by operational by 2009.
The £500 million ($1 billion) development would be built on a 25-acre coastal site near Stockton.
