Heartlands Power, based at Fort Dunlop, near Birmingham in the UK, has moved into the commissioning phase.
The 100 MWe facility will be powered by two 50 MWe industrial Trent gas turbines working in simple cycle, and is expected to operate for about 5000 hours per year. Heartlands is a joint venture of Rolls-Royce Power Ventures and Catamount Energy, a subsidiary of Central Vermont. Eastern Power and Energy Trading, a subsidiary of the Eastern Group, will provide natural gas and receive pool revenues from the electricity generated, under a 15-year contract with Eastern Electricity.
The plant is located on a site with very restricted space.
