Caterpillar has put together a new packaged stand-by unit, designated Power Package, consisting of a walk-in sound attenuated enclosure and a Cat 3516B diesel powered genset. The 2 MW package (1.64 MW continuous) comes “ready-to-wear” and merely needs setting on a concrete pad and connecting to cables and fuel line.
The package includes an internally mounted and insulated exhaust silencer, a floor standing circuit breaker enclosure, batteries and charger together with the standard housekeeping electrical package and a choice of either fuel tank base or structural steel base.
The enclosure, which has lockable doors and a pitched roof, is suitable for severe environments; it is constructed from high strength steel panels with a wind load capability of 150 mph, and capable of operating normally in ambients up to 43 °C. The sound insulation standard is to 72 dBA at 50 feet.
