KAZAKHSTAN - Kazakhstan plans a pilot project to build a 5 MWe wind power plant.
The plant will be located near Almaty. The project will be funded by the UN Food Programme and the Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company. The minister for energy and mineral resources said: "We have developed the world’s only windmill that can resist winds of up to 30-35 m/s round the clock through the Dzhungar Gate."
