The Polish government is reported to have given the go-ahead for the construction of a new dam in Nieszawa, which it is hoped will protect a larger dam from collapse at Wloclawek on the Vistula river.
The new dam will cost US$23M to construct, according to the PAP news agency. It will be built by commercial companies with state investment comprising 15-20% of the total necessary investment.
