On 5 September the Federal government and the Kredit Office for Reconstruction (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) founded the new German Energy Agency “dena” (Deutsche Energie Agentur) in Berlin. dena has been formed to exchange information on energy conservation and renewables. It will sponsor projects in these fields, give advice to the Federal government and support co-operation between public services, industry and users of energy. The first tasks of dena will be the co-ordination of off-shore wind parks in the North Sea and the Baltic, the setting up of a regional project for hydrogen supply and the establishment of a strategy for the use of fuel cells in cars and houses.
