VA Tech Hydro has been awarded a US$3.1M contract by Electricidad de Portugal (EDP) Energia for the turbine modernisation of the Belver IV in Portugal.
The modernisation will involve an integral turbine modernisation and repair (shafts, bearings, runner, blades, shaft sealing housing, generator, excitation system, water cooling system, oil and water piping, spare parts and new governor) including engineering, workshop and site assembly and commissioning.
Located on the river Tajo, near the Portuguese town of Gavião, Belver IV is due to be commissioned in February 2004.
