Spanish electricity company Iberdrola has signed 4,000 contracts with irrigators throughout Spain for the supply of high-voltage electricity, representing a 26% share of that market.

Following the removal of the regulatory tariffs for the supply of high-voltage electricity in July 2007, one of the groups most affected was the irrigators, who had to sign contracts at the earliest with one of the suppliers.

Iberdrola has identified this group as one of the priorities for its commercial activity, by carrying out a campaign during the summer period to minimize the negative impact of the end of the tariffs for irrigators, achieving 4,000 signed contracts.

Iberdrola, through its network of solicitors spread throughout the country and through telemarketing campaigns, has provided personalized advice for the agricultural companies to be able to optimize contracting parameters, hours of use and, in particular, the implementation of efficiency measures aimed at saving energy and caring for the environment.
