Industry reports suggest that Hungary is set to launch emissions trading shortly. The government has already reportedly ratified the country's allocation, with the scheme set to go live a few days later.

Agnes Kelemen, the counselor to Hungary’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and Water Management, told Platts that, although the decree ratifying the launch of trading has been published in an official journal, she is not permitted to say exactly when the scheme will begin.

Platts reports that Hungary’s total allocation will be 31,660,907mt/yr in 2005-2007. This includes 791,523mt/yr to be sold at auction (2.5% of the total allocation) and a new entrant reserve of 633,218mt/yr.
