Russian President Vladimir Putin has indicated that he will not allow the flooding of a 40km stretch of railway between the Trans-Siberian and Baikal-Amur railways for the purpose of expanding a hydroelectric power plant on the Burea River, according to the RIA Novosti news agency.
It is understood that the stretch of railway is owned by Unified Energy Systems, which operates the hydro plant.
