ABB announces an enhanced solution for the life cycle assessment of electrical systems.

The comprehensive asset condition and risk assessment approach, part of ABB Ability, provides an objective base for decision-making

MySiteCondition can be used for assessing medium-voltage equipment, including small transformers and protection relays, as well as low-voltage equipment. Maintenance efficiency and effectiveness can be significantly improved by targeting the right equipment at the right time resulting in about 40 percent savings in maintenance costs.

ABB Ability, a range of connected and software-enabled solutions, enables customers to improve productivity through better insights and make operations and maintenance simpler.

Asset owners need to be aware of the condition of their assets, which components are most likely to fail, how a potential failure would affect the process, the asset components´ life cycles status, the applicable modernization measures and the optimal future maintenance strategy. Asset managers need expert support to secure their investments. ABB’s MySiteCondition helps to evaluate the condition and assesses the reliability of electrical networks in order to mitigate asset risks. This is done by analyzing the importance, the history and the risks to equipment and their related components.

Knowing and improving the condition of the equipment is a key factor in reducing the likelihood of failure, damage and injury and offers the possibility to adopt advanced maintenance methodologies. This allows a substantial portion of the operational budget to be used more effectively.

The new “light assessment” approach enables a quick first aid check on the electrical system. The solution now covers protection relays as separate assets in a switchgear, line disconnectors in gas- insulated switchgear and distribution transformers. MySiteCondition features a tablet/smartphone app, ensuring systematic and professional on-site data collection, and a web portal for downloading all gathered data and producing an asset condition and risk assessment report. MySiteCondition can also be included in the ABB Power Care customer support agreements.

In addition to MySiteCondition, MySiteCare and MyRemoteCare for asset health management are part of the ABB Ability solutions for electrical distribution.
