Boots & Coots International Well Control has renewed its safeguard contract with the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation of India for an additional five years. The contract is for training, inspection and blowout control for Oil and Natural Gas Corporation's 28 offshore and 94 land rigs.

According to Boots & Coots, the contract also allows the company to work on special projects for Oil and Natural Gas Corporation of India (ONGC), both in and outside India.

The company has recently completed a well control secure and salvage project for ONGC off the coast of India, which involved finding and killing a well in 2,600ft of water using a remote operating vehicle and recovering the 18.75-inch 10,000 pound blowout preventor.

Boots & Coots has already mobilized on its next project, where it is acting as the general contractor for surveying pipeline in preparation for the undersea oil and gas pipeline in the region.

Jerry Winchester, CEO of Boots & Coots, said: “We believe our success in India, as well as northern Africa, is due to our work being a trusted adviser to our customers.”

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Boots & Coots International Well Control, provides a suite of integrated pressure control services to onshore and offshore oil and gas exploration companies. The Well Intervention segment consists of services that enhance production for oil and gas operators and reduce the number and severity of critical well events such as well fires, blowouts or other losses of control at the well, claims the company.
