Macedonia power monopoly AD MEPSO, which has tendered for a 150 km, 40 kV transmission line connecting Macedonia and Bulgaria, has received bids from seven companies.

Spanish Iberdrola, Croatia’s Dalekovod, Romanian Elektromontaz, Chinese CWE, Macedonian EMO AD – EMO EB, German SAG and Bosnian Energoinvest have all submitted bids according to MEPSO. The project, which will connect Macedonia’s eastern town of Stip and Bulgaria’s southwestern village of Chervena Mogila, is expected to cost €40 million and is partly backed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Contracts are expected to be signed in September.
