Argillon has recieved a $4 million contract from Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group to provide its SINOx catalyst for a selective catalytic reduction system at the John W Turk, Jr Power Plant located in southwestern Arkansas, US.

The new plant, which is owned by American Electric Power’s Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) subsidiary, will fire Powder River Basin (PRB) coal in a 600MW net pulverized coal-fired spiral wound universal pressure boiler. The selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system will have two reactors with two layers each for initial catalyst loading. The SCR system is designed to operate year round and has no bypass.

Argillon designs and manufactures SCR catalyst and systems used in power plants, power generation engines, gas turbines, industrial manufacturing facilities, marine propulsion engines, and automotive applications. The SCR systems and catalyst manufactured by Argillon reduce emissions to help meet or exceed Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements.
