Acciona Energy has started commercial operation of its 45MW Lameque wind power project, located in the Acadian Peninsula of New Brunswick, Canada.
The wind facility was initiated by La Cooperative dEnergie Renouvelable de Lameque, and construction on the project began late last year.
Acciona Energy is the developer, owner and operator of the power project, which has been constructed by Acciona Infrastructure, utilizes Acciona Windpower turbines.
Acciona Energy has invested approximately $115m in the Lameque wind project, while the Government of Canada’s ecoENERGY for Renewable Power program has invested approximately $13.79m over ten years.
New Brunswick Power has signed a long-term power purchase agreement to buy the electricity generated by the wind energy project.
The electricity will be distributed to the region through the New Brunswick Power transmission grid and will supply enough energy for approximately 8,000 homes per year.
