The UK unit of diversified technology company 3M has created a core specialist team for its oil and gas businesses in the region. The new unit will bring the company's range of products for the oil and gas industry together under one roof.
3M hopes that the move will not only allow it to better serve its customers, but also to better understand the needs of the oil and gas industries. 3M hopes that, in addition, the specialist team will help the company to provide innovative new products, such as those that can address the environmental issues facing the energy industry.
3M, which has provided exploration, production and refining products to the global oil and gas industry for more than 50 years, also said that the creation of the new unit will mean that customers will not have to deal with several different departments.
Doug Mitchell, managing director of 3M UK, said: The purpose of the new team is to make it easier for our customers to do business with 3M by providing a single point of contact. We will have a local team on the ground here in the UK, but they will have access to 3M’s expertise, product portfolio and R&D and technical resources worldwide.
