Cummins Power Generation has donated two gensets to a Kosovan hospital. The sets, each rated at 22 kW, will be used to ensure a constant supply of power to the operating theatre at the hospital in Gnjilane. Equipped with automatic controls, the sets can operate for up to 48 hours on a single tank of fuel.

During a previous trip to the region, Eric Elliot, an aid worker, was shown around Gnjilane Hospital. "In the operating theatre, I noticed there were six torches lined up on a shelf," he said. "When I asked what they were for, a surgeon told me that when the mains supply fails, operations have to be finished by torchlight." After his trip, he contacted Cummins to ask if they could help, resulting in dispatch of the units on 20 August.
