Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling, the second largest bottler of Coca-Cola drinks worldwide behind Coca-Cola Enterprises, is investigating the possibility of producing kvas, a traditional Russian beverage, according to reports.
Reports in the Russian press suggest that The Coca-Cola Company is considering plans to begin producing kvas – a sweet tasting beverage made from fermented bread – in Russia. The drinks giant is said to have already approached a number of companies, including Efes, Inbev, Borodino and Polyustrovo, regarding the bottling of the national drink at their plants.
Over the last five years, CCHBC has acquired a number of juice producers and mineral water companies in Europe as it seeks to benefit from a growing trend towards healthier options.
Greek bottler CCHBC, in which Coca-Cola has a 24% stake, has operations in 28 countries spanning Europe and Africa.
