This agreement was signed by Francis Lambilliotte, CEO of Hamon and Dai Xichen, vice-president of SNPDRI, in the presence of the Belgian Prime Minister Herman Van Rompuy and the Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping on the occasion of his official visit to Belgium.
Hamon is a world leader in cooling systems for fossil and nuclear power plants, with numerous references in large natural draft cooling towers for nuclear plants (Belgium, France, Germany, Spain…).
SNPDRI is one of the leading Chinese institutes specialising in the design of nuclear power plants.
Up until now, all the Chinese nuclear power plants have been located along the coast, therefore without cooling towers. The nuclear program is now expanding inland where very large cooling towers will be required.
In February 2009, SNPDRI placed a contract with Hamon for the design of the cooling tower for the Pengze nuclear site in the province of Jiangxi. This contract is presently under execution to the satisfaction of both parties who have now decided to expand their cooperation.
Hamon will provide its unrivalled expertise in very large cooling towers, which are key components for the performance of the power plant, and SNPDRI will provide its experience in the design of Chinese nuclear power plants.
