Intergraph and Técnicas Reunidas Improves Materials Management

Técnicas Reunidas, one of the leading Spanish engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies, has implemented Intergraph Smart® Materials and Smart Materials Portal to enhance full life cycle material, supply chain and warehouse management. Técnicas Reunidas is the first company in Europe to add the Advanced Supplier Web Collaboration function to its existing Smart Materials implementation to further improve cooperation and integration of materials and supply chain management.
With more than US$1.7 billion dollars in purchasing annually, materials management is a key process for Técnicas Reunidas. The company searched for a solution that would lower project cost, shorten schedules and reduce risks. Técnicas Reunidas chose Intergraph Smart Materials for its capability to cover the whole cycle of material management.

With Smart Materials Portal, Técnicas Reunidas expects to increase the supplier information, and gain a competitive advantage by having suppliers being part of the company’s supply chain environment. By allowing suppliers access to the system directly via the portal, Técnicas Reunidas can now improve the information quality, gain transparency, efficiency and track progress better.

Commenting on the decision to choose Intergraph Process, Power & Marine to improve supply chain management, Marcos Bauer, information technology manager, Técnicas Reunidas, said, "As an international general contractor, Técnicas Reunidas requires a state-of-the-art supply chain management system, and for that purpose we have been using Smart Materials successfully since 2006. With the new Smart Materials Portal, the integration between the processes carried out in the portal and in our back office is guaranteed. This enables more accurate construction planning and results in lowered costs and improved efficiency."

Mattias Stenberg, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine president, said, "We are proud to see how the improved Smart Materials Portal helps our customers to manage their projects in time and on budget. Having the leading EPC companies, such as Técnicas Reunidas, relying on our software shows that we are offering our customers one of the finest supply chain management solutions in the industry."

Intergraph Smart Materials is an integrated solution for life cycle material, supply chain, and subcontract management. It provides a common collaboration platform and project workbench for all partners in any engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) project supply chain.
