OpenTAS 5.0 Premieres at StocExpo

The new release of the terminal administration and automation system has been available since January and has already been rolled out to some customers. Version 2.0 of the Excise Movement and Control System (EMCS) will be another key topic showcased at the Implico stand. Implico also has a slot in the conference program on the second day of StocExpo. In this half-hour talk; Implico will join TanQuid to introduce a successful tank terminal operator project, in which efficient terminal management was achieved by using a centralized approach to administration.

The highlight for Implico at this year’s StocExpo will be the new OpenTAS release. Version 5.0 contains many new features and improvements, including simplified tank terminal object management, interface monitoring and an optimized automation system. Some of the many other new features include support for 64-bit operating systems and a completely revamped user interface with improved usability.

EMCS 2.0 will also be a core topic at Implico’s trade show stand. The computerized haulage and monitoring system for goods subject to excise duties offers the following additional functionalities from 1 January 2012: In addition to the grouping of haulage transactions with energy materials, another key feature of the new EMCS release is the explanation of shortfalls and excess quantities. Implico has integrated the workflows for the expanded EMCS 2.0 function set into OpenTAS 5.0, so that they run within the loading and shipping processes for the terminals and refineries in question – just as with the first EMCS release. Since the beginning of 2012 EMCS is also effective for the haulage of goods subject to excise duties within Germany.

In addition to these two core topics, Implico will also be providing information on biometric face recognition at StocExpo to offer a second option for biometric identification in addition to hand scans. This method of registering drivers at the tank terminal is considerably more secure than simply using the driver’s personal ID number. Implico will also be showing the new contract management for managing service contracts of tank farm operators. Other recent developments to be presented at StocExpo include extensions to the Navigator planning module, as well as innovative features for tank farm management.

Yet another trade show highlight will be the talk given by Steffen Schliesing, Senior Account Manager Oil & Gas at Implico. At 10:10 a.m. on the second day of the show, he will be joined by Thomas Knutzen, Head of IT at TanQuid, for a joint presentation entitled ‘How to achieve operational excellence while managing tanks and terminals effectively, competitively and cost efficiently through a central administration approach’.
