Trina Solar US Development Company, a subsidiary of China-based Trina Solar, has signed a teaming agreement with US-based Qbotix for the development of an intelligent tracker and module solution.
As per the terms of the agreement, Trina Solar and QBotix will collaborate on test and commercial projects located in and out of the US, and will develop a ‘building block’ design solution for commercial project developers.
QTS, the first product of QBotix, is a robotically driven dual-axis tracking system that is currently being advance field-tested in commercial farms in California, Arizona and Japan.
QBotix CEO Wasiq Bokhari said that the company is looking forward to working with Trina Solar to deploy PV systems combining Trina modules and its QTS platform to lower installation times and LCOE, and to offer system level intelligence for the solar industry.
QBotix is considered to be a pioneer in utilizing mobile, intelligent and rugged robotics for the operation of solar power plants.
Trina Solar Project Development for Americas general manager Randy Wu said that the company is teaming up with QBotix, whose solution helps in lowering energy production costs for in-house and customer project portfolios.
"This collaboration is in line with our focus to partner with leading technology developers to enhance the quality and performance advantages of our products," Wu added.
Trina Solar is a manufacturer of photovoltaic modules, solutions and services. Based in California, QBotix employs intelligent robotics in its tracking system to improve the capabilities of solar projects.
