According to Reuters, the company confirmed its outage in Nigeria after the country’s oil minister, Odein Ajumogobia, said the figure was very big. Mr Ajumogobia said that figures for production outage he had accounted for was around 25,000-30,000 barrels per day. He also stated that this could be soon brought back.

The production outage was caused by two attacks on Shell’s oil facilities. A company spokesperson maintained that the first attack led Shell to declare force majeure on Bonny Light exports for the rest of April and May.

The spokesperson said that he had no idea about the possible impact on Soku-Buguma and Buguma-Alakiri pipelines from the second attack which occurred on April 21, 2008.
