As per the agreement, PNOC will share the technical, financial, and environmental studies and information related to the country’s wind energy program.

In addition, PNOC will help MOREnergy, a joint venture of Rio Vista Properties Inc. and Mecaro, in collaborating with government agencies, non-government organizations, and other groups to promote and develop wind energy projects in Japan.

Antonio Cailao president of PNOC said that We are hitting the ground running as PNOC pursues its wind energy development program. We are excited to sign this cooperation with the group of MOREnergy which is just as serious in making renewable energy work for us and for our country using the latest wind turbine technology.

The patent of Spiral Magnus wind turbine is held by MOREnergy. This wind turbine technology, which PNOC is looking at, has spirally arranged fins attached on its cylinder shaped blades instead of the common propeller type blades.

Angelo Reyes, energy secretary & chairman of PNOC said that Studies by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory shows that the country has a total wind resource of 76,600 MW and PNOC intends to tap into this abundant renewable energy source with the latest in wind technology.
