Regulators set to determine payments and dispersal
A total of €50 million is to be paid out by the government in compensation payments to Italian consumers hit by a June 2003 powercut. Some 7 million people and one million businesses were affected by the blackout when a heat wave pushed air conditioning demand to the limit.
Regulator AEEG will determine the criteria and the mechanism under which compensation will be calculated and distributed.
