As per data available on Ministry of New and Renewable Energy website Indian companies added 222 MW of installed wind power capacity in the first four months of the year from April 2009, taking the total installed capacity to 10,464 MW.
Indian government plans to add 10,500 MW of wind capacity in the five years from March 2012.
As per Central Electricity Authority India’s total installed capacity was 151,073 MW as on July 31, 2009.
The report said that India can save 550 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions a year and attract INR475 billion investments in wind energy annually.
