Hydro-Quebec Distribution has signed a 20-year, renewable power purchase agreement with Invenergy Wind Canada to develop the 23MW Le Plateau 2 wind power project in Quebec, Canada.

Le Plateau 2 is a project collaboration between Invenergy and the Regie intermunicipale Gaspesie-Iles-de-la-Madeleine, a coalition representing MRC’s and municipalities comprising more than 90% of the GaspEsie-Iles-de-la-Madeleine administrative region.

A final contract with Hydro-Quebec for Le Plateau 2 is expected to be executed early next year, and then be submitted for approval by the provincial energy regulator, la Regie de l’energie.

Commercial operation of Le Plateau 2 is slated to commence by December of 2013.

Both Le Plateau and Le Plateau 2 will be connected to a 315kV power transmission line of the Hydro-Quebec TransEnergie transmission grid at a substation located near the power line.

Le Plateau 2 will consist of ten 2.3MW ENERCON E-70 wind turbine generators.

The 138.6MW Le Plateau Wind Energy Centre, which is scheduled for completion in 2011, also has a 20-year power purchase agreement with Hydro-Quebec.
