Alstom has delivered the first 700 MW turbine runner for the Three Gorges Right Bank power house.

Assembly, welding, heat treatment, machining and balancing, of the core hydro turbine component was made at Alstom’s local unit in Tianjin, which built a special temporary workshop 6 km downstream from the main dam to construct the runner.

The runner weighs 460 tonnes, with a height of 4.9 m and a diameter of 10.9 m and forms part of a contract for the supply of four hydro turbine and generator units for the Three Gorges Right Bank power house.

Delivery is scheduled for completion in August 2007.

Alstom also supplied eight out of the 14 turbine generator units installed on the Left Bank.
