Vietnamese state-owned power player Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) plans to invest VND33 trillion ($2 billion) in electricity projects over the coming year.

EVN is currently constructing nearly 60, mostly hydro, plants which are scheduled to be operating by 2010.

The power sector will account for 12.8% of the country’s total state expenditure in 2006, with power demand rising at some 15% annually.
