Cennergi (Pty) Ltd, the South African based 50:50 joint venture between Exxaro Resources, and Tata Power achieved commercial operations for its 134MW Amakhala Emoyeni wind project.

Cennergi was selected as the "Preferred Bidder" for two wind projects under the second window of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) by the South African government. Cennergi’s second wind project is also expected to go into commercial operations shortly.

Exxaro’s, CEO, Mxolisi Mgojo said, “the commissioning of the Amkhala Emoyeni Wind farm fulfils Exxaro’s vision of extending its position in the energy value chain beyond coal. In addition, it is a tangible commitment to our environmental stewardship to reduce the impacts of carbon emissions in the medium to long term, whilst addressing the country’s short term electricity needs in the short term.
