Car Charging Group, an owner and provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, plans to install EV charging stations at Mall of America (MOA) in Bloomington, Minnesota with the mission to build-out a nationwide EV infrastructure.

The MOA, covering 4.2 million square feet and 13,000 parking spaces, will provide EV charging option to more than 40 million annual visitors, advancing the company’s goal to spur wide spread EV adoption through facilitation of convenient EV charging away from home.

Among the estimated 4.7 million residential, public, private and workplace charging stations to be installed globally during the period from 2010 to 2015, the US is likely to deploy almost 1 million charging stations by 2015.

Car Charging Group director of sales and marketing Brian Golomb said that the elimination of range anxiety and ability to ensure EV drivers they will have access to a vast network of convenient charging stations is the key.

“To facilitate market acceptance for the first mass-market electric cars from Nissan, General Motors, SmartCar, Ford, Fiat and other manufacturers as they hit US roads this winter, we must build out the infrastructure first,” Golomb said.
