Siemens has signed a memorandum of understanding with Composite Power Corporation for a green energy project. Financial terms were not disclosed. Siemens will supply an electrical grid and operating system to Composite Power for the Nevada Green Energy Project, which will generate electricity from geothermal, wind and solar power sources. Composite Power plans to develop 50-150 MWe of wind and solar power by 2002. Siemens has said that it believes future phases at the site could add up to 1000 MWe of capacity at the site.
Panda Energy will construct a 1000 MWe gas turbine plant near Midway in Florida. The project represents an investment of $300 million.
Panda Energy and PSEG Global are to build 3 gas turbine plants in Texas, in Archer County near Wichita Falls, in Guadalupe County near San Antonio, and in Ector County at Odessa.
Foster Wheeler won a contract for a 100 MW cogeneration plant at United Refining’s Warren refinery in Pennsylvania, to be fired by a CFB boiler. Construction will start in 2001.
Great River Energy, located in Minnesota, will construct a 445 MWe gas turbine simple cycle plant near Pleasant Valley, Minnesota. Construction will start in the second quarter of 2000, with operation due to start in spring 2001. The plant will consist of three turbines.
GE has won a contract to supply ONEOK with 4 gas turbines rated at 300 MWe. The plant is due to be operational by June 2001. The plant will be built near ONEOK’s West Edmond natural gas storage located in Logan County, Oklahoma.
Ameren Corp has announced it plans to pay $435 million to buy eight gas turbines to supply 900 MWe to its generating capacity.
Reliant Energy will develop a cogeneration plant to supply electricity and steam at Equistar Chemicals Channelview, Texas facility. The facility will generate 750 MWe. Commercial operation is due by the end of 2001.
Enron has been given permission to build a $300 million, 500 MWe power plant in Pittsburg, California. Commercial operation is due to start in spring 2001.
Dynergy plans to expand its Rocky Road power station in Illinois. Dynergy will install a 100 MWe gas turbine, increasing the plant’s capacity to 350 MWe. Construction will start by the end of 1999, with completion due by summer 2000.
