GAS Energietechnologie GmbH has won a contact to build a landfill gas fuelled plant in Spain with an electrical output of 12.5 MW. The contract was awarded by UTE Biogas Garraf, a joint venture involving Endesa and the English project developer CLP Envirogas Ltd, which wants to build the facility and the Garraf landfill site near Barcelona. The site is used to dispose of household waste from 5 million citizens of Greater Barcelona. The E5 million project involves installation of twelve modular cogeneration units. It is due to be commissioned later this year.
