Beran Instruments has launched a portable version the 767, of its diagnostic toolkit designed to measure and analyse vibration in rotating plant. It is best suited to plant commissioning, balancing and troubleshooting on medium and large machines and comes in a compact and rugged unit weighing less than 12.5 kg. Dataprocessing capability and a large storage facility are built in, providing autonomous monitoring and logging for data and alarms – no external computer is required. The machine can be accessed for remoe operation by a PC running Windows 98 or higher via its direct local Ethernet connection – full system performance is upheld regardless of distance – or on site via a laptop.

The unit is equipped with up to 32 dynamic and 16 additional dc channels and up to four tacho inputs. data acquisition can be time or rpm based for monitoring run-up, coast-down, on-line and barring states. Real time and historical data can be displayed on an attached PC in a wide variety of formats including FFT with zoom and waterfall options, time, orbit, histogram, Bode, polar and trend plots. Data handling includes comparison of real time and historic data for diagnostic purposes, while remote access to both these data is maintained.

The unit also incorporates extensive alarm facilities, coupled with a wide range of post-alarm action sequences.
