L3 MAPPS to Convert Wolsong Unit 1 Simulator for Unit 3 Training

MONTREAL, January 16, 2019 – L3 MAPPS announced today that it is under contract with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (KHNP) to repurpose the Wolsong Unit 1 (Wolsong 1) CANDU* full scope operator training simulator to become the primary training simulator for Wolsong Unit 3 (Wolsong 3). The project will begin immediately.

L-3 MAPPS to Implement GE’s Main Generator Excitation System on the Cernavodă Simulator

L-3 MAPPS announced today that it has received an order from GE Energy Control Solutions (GE) to implement the new GE EX2100e main generator excitation control system on the Cernavodă full scope simulator owned and operated by Societatea Nationala Nuclearelectrica S.A. (“SNN”), a Romanian-based state-owned utilities company. The project is underway and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2016.

L-3 MAPPS Participates in Opening of Upgraded Heysham 1 Simulator

L-3 MAPPS announced today that it participated in the official opening of EDF Energy’s upgraded Heysham 1 plant training simulator on October 22, 2014 in Lancashire, UK. The ceremony was attended by numerous EDF Energy representatives, including Mark Gorry, EDF Energy’s Region 1 chief nuclear officer, and Ian Stewart, Heysham 1’s station director. L-3 MAPPS was represented by Michael Chatlani, vice president of marketing & sales.

L-3 MAPPS to Develop Human Factors Simulator for INL Research Program

L-3 MAPPS announced today that it has won an order to supply a human factors simulator to the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) located in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The INL is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Battelle Energy Alliance. The project is effective immediately, and the simulator is scheduled to be delivered to INL in the fourth quarter of this year.

L-3 MAPPS to Upgrade Fermi 2 Nuclear Power Plant Simulator

L-3 MAPPS announced today that it is has been contracted by DTE Energy to upgrade the Fermi 2 Nuclear Power Plant simulator with L-3's Orchid® simulation environment. The company will also provide DTE Energy with an additional simulator specifically to train field personnel on Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) operations. The project starts immediately and is slated for completion in the summer of 2012.

L-3 MAPPS to Deliver Orchid® Touch Interface Classroom Simulators to South Texas Project

L-3 MAPPS announced today that is has been selected by STP Nuclear Operating Company (STPNOC) to develop classroom simulators to augment full scope simulator training at the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station. The classroom simulators will be developed using L-3's Orchid® Touch Interface solution released earlier this year and will enter service in the second quarter of 2012.

World’s First EPR™ Full Scope Simulator in Use for Operator Training Exercises at Finland’s Olkiluoto 3 Nuclear Power Plant

L-3 MAPPS has announced that the Olkiluoto 3 (OL3) nuclear power plant full scope simulator (FSS), the first-ever FSS for an EPR™ plant, passed preliminary acceptance testing on September 9 in Olkiluoto, Finland. The September 12 ceremony marking the event was attended by the direct project client, AREVA, the owner of the plant, Teollisuuden Voima Oy (TVO), and L-3 MAPPS.

L-3 MAPPS Deploys CPR1000+ New Build Simulators for the Hongyanhe Site

L-3 MAPPS announced today that a second pair of L-3 MAPPS-developed simulators for the CPR1000+ nuclear plant design have entered service at the Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Training Center. The first of the two simulators, which was developed for units 3 and 4, was handed over to Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Co. (LHNP) in November 2010, and the other, for units 1 and 2, in March 2011. After extensive testing, the simulators were deployed to allow operator training to proceed. Several updates to the simulators are still to follow as updated digital control system (DCS) information is made available to L-3 MAPPS.

L-3 MAPPS to Upgrade Callaway Simulator with Alternate Emergency Power System Models

L-3 MAPPS announced today that it has earned follow-on orders from Ameren Missouri to upgrade the full scope simulator for the Callaway Energy Center in Callaway County, Missouri, USA. One order will provide for the addition of an alternate emergency power system (AEPS) model and in the other order L-3 MAPPS will modify the interface between its Orchid® Core Builder and the fuel analysis code used to perform the actual nuclear power plant fuel cycle updates. The AEPS model upgrade is scheduled to be completed in four months and the fuel data input model will be updated in the fourth quarter of 2011.

L-3 MAPPS Attains Major Milestone on Ling Ao Phase II Simulator Project

L-3 MAPPS announced today that the Ling Ao Phase II nuclear power plant full scope simulator (FSS), the first-ever simulator for a CPR1000 plant, has attained another significant milestone. In a ceremony held in Paris on 28 June 2011 marking the issuance of the provisional acceptance certificate (PAC), L-3 MAPPS joined AREVA, Siemens, Daya Bay Nuclear Power Operations and Management Company (DNMC) and China Nuclear Power Engineering Company (CNPEC) to formally hand over the simulator to DNMC on behalf of the Ling Dong Nuclear Power Company.

L-3 MAPPS Awarded Embalse Full Scope Simulator Project

L-3 MAPPS announced today that it has received an order from Nucleoeléctrica Argentina S.A. (NA-SA) to supply the full scope operator training simulator for the Embalse nuclear power station. The project will start immediately, and the simulator is expected to go into service at the end of 2012.

L-3 MAPPS to Support AmerenUE with Callaway Plant’s Integrated Control System Upgrade

L-3 MAPPS announced today that it has won two orders from AmerenUE in support of the Siemens SPPA-T3000 integrated control system (ICS) upgrade for the Callaway nuclear plant in Callaway County, Missouri, US. In support of the first order, L-3 MAPPS will simulate the instrumentation and control (I&C) system and corresponding human-machine interface and integrate it with the plant model that is currently being updated.
