Vattenfall and the project developer ABO Wind intend to jointly implement onshore wind projects in Germany.

Both companies have now concluded a cooperation agreement.

In view of the start-up calls for onshore wind in Germany, the medium- and long-term goal of this strategic partnership is to successfully implement wind projects in the changing market environment from a strong position. By 2020 Vattenfall wants to expand its onshore wind portfolio in Germany to 200 megawatts (MW).

"I am very pleased with this cooperation, because we have a professional and experienced partner for the implementation of our goals with ABO Wind," says Anna Helene Jasper-Martens , who heads the Wind Division at Vattenfall, Germany. "This cooperation pays off perfectly on our strategy of expanding our onshore portfolio in Germany together with our partners."

In order to meet the different preferences of the land owners, ABO Wind already cooperates with wind farm operators at an early stage of planning. "As one of the major energy suppliers, Vattenfall offers security," explains ABO Wind Division Manager Petra Leue-Bahns . "This makes this partner particularly valuable for us." The cooperation agreement complements the traditionally close cooperation of ABO Wind with cooperatives, for example.
