Engineering and design company ÅF has acquired Sweden-based nuclear waste management and decommissioning services provider Facilia.

The acquisition of Facilia strengthens ÅF’s offering within safety assessment for nuclear waste management and decommissioning. With the acquisition ÅF is well positioned for further growth and to support the shifting energy market.

Facilia is active in the fields of environmental and health risk assessments, safety assessments in radioactive waste management and radiation protection.

The acquisition will strengthen and broaden ÅF’s offer of services and products in the nuclear waste management and decommissioning segments. A combination of ÅF and Facilia will form at strong nuclear partner in Scandinavia and Europe. With Facilia’s international references, clients and partners in Europe ÅF’s international nuclear business will grow faster.

Facilia has in total 14 employees and net sales of SEK 18.5m ($2.11m) in 2017 and will be consolidated into ÅF as of June 1 2018.
